Mighty is the Power of the Cross
by Chris Tomlin
tune down 1/2 step so ur playing in Gb
Verse: G,Em,C2,D7
Chorus: C2 d/f# f# G C2 Em D/F#
C Em D/F# G
Bridge: C2 G/b Am D
The D7 is played 2-o-o-2-3/1
the chorus is a walk down let me know if it needs anything else.
Ya.. sorry dude thats wrong.. He taught it on a video and showed exactly how he played it.. I wish I wouldve wrote it down for you! But ya.. I didnt save the video on my comp and cant find it anymore.. so neither I can play it nor can i write it down! Lame I kno! I guess I will try yours.
The intro is an arpeggio of the G and C Chords - Chris accents the middle G and A notes- kinda lke how most guitarists do with a D and a Dsus.
Intro:
G - C - G - C
The verse looks right on this tab but for the life of me i cannot justify the D7. I can't hear the high C being played and therefore i think it is a regular D Chord instead of the D. If i AM WRONG - its because i have a tad of distain for chords like D7 that bring up many hymns that I want to forget. Don't get me wrong, like the hymns just some of them get on my nerves after awhile- "I'll fly away oh glory, I'll Fly..." Whatever back to the chords...
Verse:
G Em C D/F#
G Em C D/F#
Chorus - Ok the first guy is mostly right, he just has it written confusing. Here are the chords BY EACH MEASURE
C C D/F# G C G D/F# (2x)
C Em D/F# G
Here are some side notes for this chord chart thingy. The C is best played as a C2 or better known as the cheater C... or i call it that cause in my beginning stages you could slough a G - C - D - C or a G - D - Em - C progression and not move your last two fingers. Anyhow...
Ok another thing in this chorus is the mighty quick runnup between the G and C that Chris does. It is a common runnup and i think David Crowder does it in his song "stars" - I have to run to costco so i might come back and tab that out for you guys and gals- also I am not 100% about the bridge but I did not get a good look at it.
Also for teams, consider a second accoustic with a capo on 2nd fret playing the song in E - just have fun with it and i think it will sound better than Tomlin. But I am stil lookin for a violin player.... :)
Hmm....i wonder if anyone will ever tab this song....i went to the chris tomlin site myself but i couldnt find the tabs for it...it said (coming soon), but that was way back in 2004! I have been playing for almost a year now....i can play most of Chris Tomlin's songs such as Your grace is enough and Holy is the Lord electric parts...but this song is one that will take me a while to decode....oh and i have requested to post tabs for those two songs as well...so look into them...=]
