This sounds great, but I'm pretty sure the real version goes A-E-F#m-D for the song. Great work tabbing this!

Brendini - 2004-05-09

I think it goes C# G# B F#

Wonderboy893 - 2004-05-12

I don't think that first post or correction is close to what the C.d. sounds like, at least for Tree 63 .. I'm sure that Matt Redman might do it differently though .. is that who you're thinking about?

as for the second post thing...

you're right on the C# .. it's not C#m .. I don't know why I did that .. I don't play it that way

G# is the same as Ab .. call it what you want

Bbm is the appropriate chords, I'm almost postivite .. I went back over it .. and a B dosen't fit the bass of what Tree is doin'

and we agree on the F# ..

Thanks for checkin' up on my work though!

unknown - 2004-05-27

Your right, that's how Matt Redman does it; I have only heard the Tree63 version once or twice, so I didn't notice the difference. My bad! :)

guitarfreak217 - 2004-06-09

actually, matt redman plays it B-F#-G#m-E

dnc23 - 2004-06-24

Try these chords: C G Am F with Capo I (This should be the exact key the original song is in which makes it a lot of fun to play along with.)

Drewbus - 2004-07-04

G# is the correct chord for this song - the song is in C# major, thus G# is the correct name. Ab and G# may be the same chord but only one of the two can be in this key :)

TrLa04 - 2004-07-11

Just a thought, but wouldnt it be a lot easier to put a capo on the first fret and play it - C G A F.

iwant2playgetar - 2004-07-12

HI! I WAS WONDERING IF ANY OF YOU ALL KNEW WERE I COULD GET THE CHORDS AND LYRICS FOR THIS LIKE THE CHORDS ABOVE THE WORDS.

(LIKE THIS)
D A D
JESUS MY REDEMMER
IF SO THANKS ALOT! AND WHAT DOES CAPO MEAN?

xtreme4god - 2004-07-12

a capo is a thingy-mi-bobber that go on the fret board of your guitar. it raises the key.

jaredthomas2007 - 2004-07-18

if you dont know what a capo is your a retard and you need be playing drums or somthing else

drumtechie2003 - 2004-07-19

Matt Redman does the song in the key of B. He capos on the second fret and uses the following chords: A, E, F#m7, and D. BTW, I take slight offense of the capo/drums comment. I'm a drummer, but I also play the trumpet, guitar, and the bass guitar.

isaiah602girl - 2004-07-22

You're not a retard if you don't know what capo is (especially if you're just learning to play guitar). You could buy a cd or songbook with with Blessed be Your Name in it and get the words from there. (If you want the songbook with this song in it check out a Christian bookstore or try worshiptogether.com) About finding out what chords are, you can go to a music store and get a guitar chord book, or you can go to a search engine and look up guitar chords. You might try Mel Bay's deluxe encyclopedia of guitar chords- I have it and its pretty extensive. About the capo, its like a padded clamp that bars all or some of the strings right above a fret and raises the key. You can get one at a music store.

CammaSlamma18 - 2004-08-06

That's a great song! And for anyone who makes fun of a beginner who doesn't know what a capo is....shame on you! Would Jesus make fun? Come on man, Step it up! God Bless you guys and keep up the chords:)

mmggppmgp - 2004-08-27

ya'll this is an awesome song.... im dissapointed that some1 would call a retard on this site... especially that this site is "Christian Oriented(wateva u wanna call it)".... i think its great that the dude who does not noe wat capo is learning the guitar, cuz later on he could be used mightyly through his guitar playing.... well about the song.... my Youth Church plays it like this....

Tuning:Standard... The Tree63 one is: all strings 1/2 step lower
(if u guys dont wanna tune it 1/2 step lowr... just play half step lower.. D would be C#,A would be G#,etc...)

oh yah dont forget distortion

Chords...

Verse:(palm muted) D A Bm G
D A G (2x)

Pre Chorus: D A Bm G(2x)

Chorus:(loud babe... as loud/hard as u could)

D5 A5
B5 G5 (2x)

Bridge/Post Chorus: D5 A5
B5 G5 (2x)

Order... awe shucks listen to the song.... well this is how our YOuth plays it... *note- palm mute the verse... n go all out on chorus pre-chorus n post chorus... but dont go all out on the break down part... well if ya'll want the solo stuff i would be glad to give it to you... michael_97124@hotmait.com... just email me... GOD BLESS

mmggppmgp - 2004-08-27

Gr8.... well if u want the lead stuff its already in this site... did not noe the version i posted is in this site...
well if yall want it its in this site..

RcKn'Rll247 - 2004-09-09

If someone doesn't know what a capo clamp is dont make fun of them tell them what it is dude...anyways i much appreciate your guys corrections...rock on

Screech86 - 2004-09-22

This is an awesome song! My youth group and I play it G D Em C, palm muting up until the last Em in the pre-chorus and thru the chorus. Then go back to palm muting after the chorus, and carry on the same pattern. There you go!

color_mecrimson - 2004-09-26

Wow, my youth plays it entirely differently, we dont palm mute at all... Then again I too am a begginer myself, I only know like 12 chords, and I have one strumming rythmn that I can't seem to break at all.

jcsorocks - 2004-10-02

All right... mmggppmgp's version looks good to me - but if you don't want to have to tune down your guitar, and you can't transpose b/c you're a beginner then here's an easier version - simple Capo on the first fret and play:

Verse:(palm muted) C G Am F
C G F (2x)

Pre Chorus: C G Am F(2x)

Chorus:(loud babe... as loud/hard as u could)

C5 G5
A5 F5 (2x)

Bridge/Post Chorus: C5 G5
A5 F5 (2x)

now isn't that simple??

anailev - 2004-11-19

I'm agree with Bendini, without capo and stuff, Tree63 version goes like this C# G# Bbm F#

Of course you could tune it down or up or whatever you like, but if you want to play along with the CD, that's definitely it :)

matt j t - 2004-12-13

Yo jaredthomas2007, it isn't nice to call people names.

By the way, i'm new here

matt j t - 2004-12-13

I forgot to say one more thing to jaredthomas2007. when i first started to play guitar, i did not know what a capo was until my friend got me one. I don't think it is righ to be so quick to judge.

My sister agrees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we all forgive you anyway

matt j t - 2004-12-14

I was just wondering, the first review was not by me but is says "matt j t"

what's the deal ?!?

fndrjazz - 2005-09-01

Capo? What's that? (hehe, just kidding)

joelbates - 2005-09-23

Hey Guys, I don't know the age of all of you here but it certainly is not a Christian ideal to chastise people for not knowing what a capo is. As an elder worship leader (42) who works weekly with youth, I feel that I should point out your lack of modeling Jesus.

Also, the keys that people play this song in are sort of irrelevant because the can be changed for many reasons, especially when recording. Key is set because someone likes the timbre in that key, or it is comfortable to sing or it is comfortable to play in that key. Tree66 indeed plays this in C# and a previous writer explained that dropping your strings 1/2 step across the fretboard will yield this while playing relatively simple chords like D, A, etc.

For those of you still stuck on capos, again, these are typically used to do the three things I mentioned before. Visit musiciansfriend.com and search capo if you want to see one. They change the key to make a song easier to sing, easier to play or sound differently (and presumably better). I, as a chord player, use it to cheat to make songs easier to play to avoid playing a lot of barre chords on my accoustics. My hand strength is not up to a night of barre chords on accoustic. Unless you have perfect pitch (capos often screw up guitar player with perfect pitch), every guitar player should buy one for each of his or her guitars. For guitar players, they may find A is an easy key but on an accoustic, C# not so good. So in this song, capoing at the fourth fret and playing in A makes the song pretty easy to play - basically A E F#m and D across the board. This happens to be a good key for me to sing in but maybe it is too high for other men. Just drop that capo to three or two and you change the key. Just got to make sure your other band members play the adjusted key.

Check the attitude and remember WWJD.

Joel Richard - 2005-10-05

If your using a capo on the (for instance) 3rd fret. Wouldn't that act as the 1st fret and you just'd play all the chords like you normally would from there?

Musedudette - 2005-10-24

All I can say is, what a wkd song, and thanks to everybody here I now have an idea as to how to play it. I've just started learning guitar (and only found out just about a month ago what a capo is) and am beginning to play stuff in church which is ace!!! Although i make many mistakes!
Hopefully i'll know how to play this song in church too, whoop! Cheers ppl.

aero! - 2005-10-26

you can say whatever but like a zillion other songs (say wont you say by jennifer knapp, on fire by switchfoot, let it be by the beatles, amazed by lonestar, here without you by 3 doors down--just to name a few), C G Am F is the easy way out. if you're a beginner especially, pick you up a capo, stick it on the first fret and voila. it matches tree63's version of blessed be your name by tree63 perfectly.

case closed.

colin253 - 2005-10-31

Sorry to burst your bubble, but posting the chords + lyrics is illegal. Christian Guitar Resources almost got into trouble with copyright infringement before becasue of that.
