guitar man4 - 2005-01-28

To play things like d/g, you play a regular d chord and play a g note using your thumb, and strum all six strings. This is what it looks like:
e-2-
B-3-
G-2-
D-0-
A-0-
E-3-

INTRO VAMP
On the opening downbeat (downstrum) of the intro, the chord is just the first five strings played open followed immediately by a quick strum upward on a D major chord.

You alterate the open string chord with the D once more quickly before going to the G chord in the intro.

Then, you go from the G in the intro VERY quickly to a C major (first position)for one downward strum followed immediately on the upstrum strum by the same open string chord then immediately on the downstrum by the D major (first position).

The secret is that open string chord mixed in. Listen again to the song and you'll hear it. It's what fills in the chord transitions.
