It's actually easier if you use a G chord progression (G, Dsus, Em7, C2 in whatever order) and tune it down a half-step. Then when you play acoustic you don't have to play bar chords!

surferdude9375 - 2004-07-17

If you ask me it would be eaisier to do this than tune down half a step

GuitBoxSP - 2004-07-25

yeah, have you ever played a show or for youth group and have to make everyone wait to tune. i had to drop down to Drop D just for one song and it was holding us up

JMoCIC4ever - 2004-07-29

Or just play it in G period. Not that hard and only a 1/2 step difference in pitch. Since the melody itself doesn't go very high, playing in the key of G might actually be helpful to those whose voices can't go very low.
Peace - J_Mo

dcb_rocks31 - 2004-08-06

actually, i think crowder plays on a C# procession (C#, A#m, G#, F#) or at least he starts the intro tab on C#

WordsAreNotEnuf - 2004-08-28

HAHAHAHHAHAHA..... actualllllllllly!!!!! Hahahah...who cares just play.... Make a joyful noise.... thats my best advice....

rcman - 2005-01-11

rcman - 2005-04-11

the intro tab is 77777 5454 and you repeat that on the g string....4 times
the chords are without a capo

verse g em d c
then on...how could you be so good....you play d
Chorus is...g d em c
Bridge.....D and C
and the ending is how you play the chorus...so that is all to it....jsut to tell you know capo!!!

rcman - 2005-04-11

my bad the intro is 77770 54545 ...k that;'s it to make it really simple

guitarguy1020 - 2005-04-15

Great Thinkin!

OrionManMatt - 2005-04-21

intro is:
---------------------
-3-3333--------------
--------5-55-4-4-4h5-

no1likegod9 - 2005-06-07

the intro is 77770 545

no1likegod9 - 2005-06-13

sorry the intro is 10-10-10-3-8-7-8-7 play this on the first string

Tylerman - 2005-07-02

I agree with rcman the chords are G Em D and C on the verse then G D Em and C on the chorus. You dont need bar chords or a kapo. This is a great song.

LesPaulLuke - 2005-08-01

easy way is

Since there are 3 guitarists in the band, I wouldn't be suprised if the intro and guitar parts were all split up and put together very intricately between the 3 guitars. The best way to break it down and tab it properly is to listen to it through ear phones, that way you can hear if there are different parts in split between the two phones, thus reducing the possibility of mixing two parts. Also lots of listening through ear phones would help, as it would familiarise you with the parts.
But that's just a suggestion, if anyone wants to take up the task.

guitarplayer67 - 2005-09-01

hey nath i have no clue wat you are talking about. could you make that comment simpler?

YWAM Kid - 2005-10-17

Sorry Guys the intro is as follows:

e[----------------]
B[2-2-2-----------]
G[------3-4--3-434]
D[------4-4--4--4-]
A[----------------]
E[----------------]

thesean19 - 2005-11-06

The intro is 7 7 7700 5 4 545. Played on the G string with the guitar dropped a 1/2 step. David crowder will capo the first fret to play in standard tuning. Does anyone know what type of electric guitar david crowder plays?

thesean19 - 2005-11-06

never mind, it's a Anderson guitar, specially made. Cool!!!

lmvc - 2005-11-25

The guitar David Crowder uses is named after him named the Crowdster Acoustic by Tom Anderson.

lmvc - 2005-11-25

Oh and yeah it's not an electric guitar, it's supposedly one of a kind, you can play it either with an amp or without since it is specifically an acoustic guitar, it really sounds awesome. There's another guitar attributed to them by Anderson, it's the ATOM.
Check them out here : www.andersonguitars.com

Grandpa - 2006-11-15

Two of my students are starting to play/sing this song.
Being a lazy old coot, I came here looking to see if someone had already figured out the chords to this one. But there seems to be no consensus, so I guess a guy who bought his first guitar in response to Elvis first hit in 1956 better give it a try! Stay tuned, I will be back in a day or two!

dseawel - 2007-01-07

I think YWAM Kid was the closest:

CAPO 2!!!!
e[-------------]
B[0-0----------]
G[2s4---2-1-212]
D[------2-2--2-]
A[-------------]
E[-------------]

Hey, did I mention the Capo 2, cause if I didn't... you'll need to put a Capo on the second fret.

squintz222 - 2007-01-10

if you want to know the real chords. go to his site. you can dowload a pdf file containing all the songs on illuminate.

fnasky56 - 2007-03-29

Intro: G

Verse:
G Em7 Dsus4 Cadd9 {2x}

Interlude:
G Dsus4 Em7 Cadd9

rocker4him - 2007-05-03

This was the first song I learned. easier if you use G, Em7, Dsus, C2 tune it down a half-step. Strum: down, down, up, up, down
