Adding To The Noise
Switchfoot
The Beautiful Letdown
Sparrow Records
Sony Music Entertainment, Inc.
tabbed by Dustin, UnderdogNumber14@aol.com
Intro
In the intro and chorus, this is the basic idea of the riff.
I believe he sometimes just goes back to A at the end of it,
really fast, instead of using these slide motions.
G-7----------------
D-7--7--/9-/7/9/7--
A-5--7--/9-/7/9/7--
E----5--/7-/5/7/5--
Play this a few times, then on the last time play:
G-7-----------
D-7--7--8-----
A-5--7--8-----
E----5--6-----
Verse
I'm pretty sure it's just D and G over and over.
G-7-------
D-7---5---
A-5---5---
E-----3---
I don't know what instrument plays during this break,
but I think it starts with some kind of E chord.
Chorus
G-7----------------
D-7--7--/9-/7/9/7--
A-5--7--/9-/7/9/7--
E----5--/7-/5/7/5--
PLay above riff 3x, then play
G-7-----------
D-7--7--8-----
A-5--7--8-----
E----5--6-----
Bridge-
G---------------------------------
D-8---10--12--10--8---10--12--7---
A-8---10--12--10--8---10--12--7---
E-6---8---10--8---6---8---10--5---
I believe this bridge to be mostly correct, I'm just can't seem
to figure out what one of the chords is.
I think that the start (the only part I've read so far) goes more like this:
------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------
-----------7----7-------------------------------------------
----7------7----7----7----7----7-----9---9---9---7---9------
----7------5----5----7----7----7-----9---9---9---7---9------
----5----------------5----5----5-----7---7---7---5---7------ then you start just do that over again. That's just what I think it's pretty possible thats it's higher or lower. I not 100% positive 'cause it's not like Im John Foreman!
dudes, every single one of your chords that has a low e in it wud be so much easier if you just put it in drop d. that way you don't have to stretch so much. (if it makes you feel cooler just keep playin it that way)
sportsboi, this song is much, much easier to play in standard tuning. Your hand stays in the same exact position the entire time, and you only use your first and third finger for the most part. That is not a stretch by ANY means, especially on the higher frets since they're closer together.
If you put it into drop D, you're going to be constantly switching the positioning of your hand, which is going to be more difficult than just leaving it in standard tuning.
You can do it either way, but I don't see how you're saying that drop D is easier. It may be about the same difficulty wise, because I don't think either way is hard to play. But I wouldn't come in here saying drop D is easier, since it definitely is not.
guys sorry to interupt, this has nothing to do with this song, but i can't get help anywhere else.
i can't post threads or anything like that, and i can't reply to any of those chat things in the forums. can someone tell me what to do???
email me the answer at skistar_baby18@hotmail.com
hihihisteel9 you have to remember we are assuming everyone is using only one guitar as to where switchfoot has 3... I think... and Drop D is definitely easier (which is tuning the low E string to the seventh fret instead of the 5th if anyone new to guitar didn't know what that meant)
Nice Tab! There were a few mistakes though, and here's the way I play it.
