Especially if you're doing it for christian music and more importantly God...That's an awesome deal! I know it's funny sometimes to make jokes and stuff boys, but really...Just don't wrory about it eh? It's cool to let them know if maybe it's not quite on, but I guess it might be a little better if you do it positively....(even if that sounds corny) I guess point is, we all mess up at something...Treat others as you would have them treat you...

dude,
the intro is played in individual strings, when the guitars pan it back and forth, up until the come in at the same time on the fifth fret to the seventh fret it is individual stringing. These tabs aren't right, but they are correct in that it is played individual stringing.

I love reading this whole thing( all the corrections and what not.) It just makes me wanna smile. Every once in a while I will come here just to read the whole thing. I agree, everyone shouldn't be tearing the kid down. But even so, if I had posted this, I probably would have never came back to the thing to se what people wrote. I might some time. If I had never seen it and suddenly seen it now, I would have laughed if I was the kid who wrote it. Just saying. I felt like I had to write something. Every one else has. Hehe. I really like the fact that everyone is sticking up for the kid. Thats really cool. But I know that if I was the first one to see this tab, I would have written the same exact thing as the kids who said he was a disgrace to switchfoot. In that sense, I didn't feel called out to say those guys were doing a terrible thing because I know in my heart, I would have done the same thing as them. I just finished reading all of the things above and I think it is very funny how the conversation went back and forth with everyone changing sides over and over again. But on a different side I found all of this quite disgraceful not to Switchfoot or anybody else who says they can write tab right but it disgraces God in a huge way. Most of us call ourselves Christians (followers of Jesus Christ) but hardly any of you were displaying your fruit. I think the guy that made the tab needs allot more credit than he is getting. I know I couldn’t write one that well. So instead of pushing him down the hill give him some advice. My advice for the guy is to check out others sources and learn from each of them. But whatever you do don’t stop trying.

played by itself, this does actually sound like the intro to the song, even thou it is not the way that switchfoot plays it. But sometimes if ur playing a song in a concert or something and its hard to sing you can change the key of the song to make it easier for singing. so maybe someone should try to write out a full tab for this song in the key that this intro is in, for people who find it easier to sing in this key. just a suggestion. i would do it myself but i dont really understand keys, i just play songs how they sound.

Amazing. And on a Christian Tab Site. A dude tries to tab something, messes up, and you (some of you) twang it out on yer guitar, and it doesn't match the CD, so you just snark up the opportunity to say "No offense but you suck", or say that the tabber was on drugs of some sort. Maybe after a while you (some of you) will realize that your skills were given to you as tools to bring glory to God and not simply things you lord over other people and belittle them. I don't really know who you guys are. I'm a worship leader at my church, gettin' songs ready for sunday, and I'm just baffled to think, "Who's writing these hurtful things?" I'm left to assume that it's just a bunch of unbelievers getting the tabs because the song sounds pretty cool, or Christian guitarists trying to prove how in the world they still are.

I thought by this point point all the views would be Christian and another guy bashes him. I would absolutely love to be the kid who wrote this tab. TO be able to come back and have the largest commentary thing ever!!! It would warm my heart to see this. i am a completely new guitar player and just got into it about a WEEK ago literally. i decided to try it out because my brother has been playing since my age, 13. i decided to try and find a good site where i could learn some new songs and searched on google and found this one. i love switchfoot so i came to look for one of my favorite songs: meant to live. i don't even know how to read tabs, but i clicked on this one anyway; i'm sure glad i did. it made me realize how much people complain and fight over stupid stuff! it shouldn't matter if it's not right, (even though i wouldn't know because i can't read tabs. haha) it should just matter that he's doing this for God. if he is, then mad props to you! i would say great job, but i don't know what it sounds like, lol, but keep doing what your doing and keep your eyes on God!!

yeah, no offense guys.. but this is NOT the christian way to be acting.. It's a song. And in my oppinion, he is not at all THAT bad. I mean the tune is correct. It's just not how it's played. But seriously there is no need to get darn mad at him and curse at eachother.. he did his BEST. and that's all that God expects from us. we as christians should know all this..
in my oppinion I think that this (what I tabbed) sounds that best to "ME" when I play with the CD:
(STANDERED TUNING).
I like to play this song with "Power chords"..
"S" = smear..or bend, it's the same thing I think. :)
there is also 2 guitars in the biggining playing this. and they each take turns playing the intro at (1X) and then the play the final intro (1X together).
But nonetheless. I'm only a bigginer at tabbing. but just give it a try and see what you think?!..

okay I'm sorry but It has taken me about almost one whole hour to read all of these posts.. It has been 2 whole years sense this guy/kid/girl/woman. tabbed this... And It's just crazy to see you all acting like this, even the people who are all mad at the people mad at the kid. seriously. us as christians should try and help eachother and correct eachother not tell them how much they suck!..
