Comments about this tab
unknown - 2005-01-09
there are actually 3 guitars on this song. 1 acoustic & 2 electrics. in the intro, after it does the guitar2 part, then there is another guitar that does a short riff. on the chorus, one electric is doing power chords and the other is doing a riff (like a lead on the higher strings). i haven't tried to tab it. please post if you can.
Regarding "Csus2" vs. "C2"... as far as I know (and both my exaustive chord books which have neither) they are the same thing. He charts it out in tab... so why did you comment. Good job to the one who did this! this one is more accurate that the others I've seen here. Great Song! Blessings..
Well, guys, I know this is a little late, but a good variation on Cmaj7 (which is a r-C, 3-e, 5-g, and Major 7-b, would be 0-10-10-9-0-0. I figured this one out on "Lord You Are Good" by New Breed. Awesome group!! Check them out at Integrity.com
For Emaj9 (EAbBDbF#), You could play this combo on either 1 or 13 fret, depending on how you like it. Other inversions exist as well. 0-2-4-1-4-0, or x-14-16-13-16-x. The high-fret one may be a little... um... high, I don't have an axe handy.
O.K. there are a few guitars on the studio version of this song, but I JUST saw Chris Tomlin's Indescribable concert and there was one acoustic and one electric. No other guitars. This is not a perfect tab, but a GREAT one and better than I did. Thanks for posting it!

All you you seem to have the same chord progressions pretty much, but in different key. The original/recording starts on a G#m or F#m when CAPO 2 (A), but you can play it both ways. You should also cater to your singers, becuase Chris TOmlin is like a SUPER-Tenor.
For the intro, I believe the lick is:
B-x-------12-11--7--9----------|
E-x--9-11--------------9--11---| play twice before G#m....
it starts right after the first bead (x), the drummer should start off with one kick. I play it with hammer-ons to make it alittle smoother, but it's nice without it too. This is also how the song ends, but the play in my band has that same riff and it's really nice if everything is put together.
This is a good tab. The cd version I believe is actually capo 2 with the bar chords, but this version is a lot easier for leading praise and worship. And whoever posted earlier that Csus2, C2 and Cadd9 were all the same chord was right.
I've been listening to this all night, going back and forth, but I'm now convinced there is a Bm7 underneath when he sings "you are amazing". I know the bass is B, and the G/B sounds great as writen in the tab, but in the recording, sometimes I hear a hint of Bm7. I think that's why someone said they play a D there, which works since Bm7 is the same as D/B (a D major chord over a B bass note) as long as someone else is playing the B bass note. The Bm7 just really grabs me more than the G/B, which sounds somehow passive coming from a Em. So, I don't know I'm actually hearing it in the recording or if it's my own bias. Anyway, I love this song and this tab is great.
Only C2 and Cadd9 (the proper way to refer to the chord) are the same. Speaking from pure theory, taking in point overall tonality, Csus2 is played when you replace or suspend the 3rd with the second in relation to the root. Example:
e X
B 1
G 0
D 0
A 3
E X
This suspends the 3rd (E played on the open e string and the E played on the D string.) for the second (D played as the open D string).
Cadd9 adds the D note (played on the B string) one octave (or more) higher than the lowest root note (C played on the A string). Most people add the 5th (G on the high e string) for ease of playing.
