I'm don't know "official way" of playing a G/C on a guitar, but what I would do is bar your G (i.e. 355433), but then change it up a bit to x35433. That will give you a G/C.

i play the chorus alittle differently...

i also use a wierd E chord in the chorus that sounds pretty cool...i dont really know the proper name for ir,i just dicovered it on accident..

E-ish chord:

so my chorus goes like this:
